Notice for Trainees and Parents or Guardians
Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE] · Contact: [CONTACT EMAIL]
This page explains what happens when a chess coach invites you (or your child) to train with them in Chess Mirror. It says the same as the screen you see before you accept.
If you accept
- Your coach pays for your Pro. You pay nothing.
- You choose a name your coach will see.
- You choose whether to share a small progress summary. It is on by default on the screen, and you can untick it.
- You may stop sharing, or leave your coach, at any time.
What a coach can see (only while sharing is on)
For each of the last 8 weeks: how many games you played and analysed, your accuracy, blunders per 100 moves, how often you ran low on time, your score (wins and draws), how many puzzles you solved and missed. Also: how far you are through your weekly plan, your day streak, and your first result on each puzzle your coach assigns you (solved, solved with help, or missed). Plus the name you chose, and the email your coach invited.
What a coach can never see
Your games, moves, positions, opponents, game links or analyses. There is no chat or messaging in the app. Nothing you type is sent.
Stopping
- Stop sharing deletes everything your coach could see, at once. The coach then sees only your name and "sharing off".
- Leave my coach ends your seat and deletes it too. Your own games and analyses are never touched.
- A coach can also remove you, which does the same.
- If your coach's licence ends, your Pro through them ends, but your data stays with you.
For parents and guardians
- If the trainee is under 18, a parent or guardian must read this and agree. The app asks for the guardian's name and records the date and that they agreed. It cannot check that this really happened, so please be involved.
- You can ask the trainee (or us, at [CONTACT EMAIL]) to stop sharing or leave the coach at any time, and we will help.
- You can ask the coach what they keep, and ask them to delete it.
- Chess Mirror has no messaging, photos or video, and a coach cannot contact a child through it.
