Terms of Use
Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE] · Provider: [COMPANY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS] · Contact: [CONTACT EMAIL]
By using Chess Mirror you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. Coaches also agree to the Coach terms, and subscribers to the Refund policy.
1. What Chess Mirror is
A tool that loads your public games from chess.com, Lichess or a PGN file, analyses them on your own device with the open-source Stockfish engine, and helps you train on your mistakes. Chess Mirror is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by chess.com, Lichess or the Stockfish authors. Their names belong to their owners.
2. Free and Pro
The app is free to use. Pro adds features listed on the Pro screen. Pro is either your own subscription or a seat paid for by your coach. What is free and what is Pro may change; we will not take away something you have already paid for during the period you paid for.
3. Your account
You need an account only for Pro, cloud sync and coach features. Give a real email address, keep your sign-in secure, and tell us if you think someone else has access. If you lose both your sync passphrase and your recovery key, we cannot recover your encrypted cloud data: that is how end-to-end encryption works.
4. Subscriptions and payment
Subscriptions are sold by Paddle, our payment provider and merchant of record. Paddle's terms apply to the payment. Your subscription renews each period until you cancel; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. The price, including any tax for your country, is shown before you pay. Refunds are described in the Refund policy. [⚖ Paddle's buyer terms, renewal notices and local consumer rules.]
5. How you may use it
Use it for your own chess improvement and, if you are a coach, for coaching. Do not misuse the service, try to break or overload it, try to access other people's data, send false usage numbers or payment claims, or use chess.com or Lichess in ways their terms forbid (including loading games at unreasonable rates).
6. Your content
Your games, analyses and notes are yours. We do not claim any rights over them. You allow us only to store and handle what you choose to sync, to run the features you use.
7. Analysis is a guide, not a guarantee
Engine analysis and the training suggestions can be wrong or incomplete, and they depend on the speed and settings you choose. Use your own judgement. Nothing here is professional advice.
8. Availability
We try to keep the service available but do not promise it will always work. Features that run on your device keep working without us. We may change, pause or end optional online features with reasonable notice where we can.
9. Open-source software
Chess Mirror includes open-source software, including Stockfish (GPL-3.0). Those components are under their own licences, listed in Credits and licences, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under them.
10. Ending
You can stop using Chess Mirror at any time and delete your data (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms; we will refund the unused part of a paid period if we end your Pro without such a breach.
11. Our responsibility
[⚖ Limits and exclusions of liability, warranty disclaimers, and consumer rights that cannot be limited. To be written by your adviser for the country where you operate and the places you sell.]
12. Law and disputes
[⚖ Governing law, courts or arbitration, and how consumers can complain.] These terms are governed by the laws of [COUNTRY / GOVERNING LAW].
13. Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it applies to you. The date at the top shows the current version.
